June 1st – September 15th

This summer, we’ll be doing something different to our usual Wagon Adventure. We’re teaming up with Stoke Travel to provide some summer fun! All the info is below. Read on, get stoked and get booked!

It’s pretty simple, we have this bus and an awesome stretch of surfing ready coast stretching from Spain to France. We spend our days taking in the best towns, prettiest beaches, most popular tourist attractions and craziest parties this part of the world can offer us. We end our days at the closest surf camp, set our tents up and cook a delicious dinner. Then we drink a few cervezas, talk about the day and plan the evening’s frivolities. We’ll decide whether we want to go and party, or not, and once the night is done, whichever we chose to do, we know we’ll be waking up and cruising the coast looking for more waves.

We’ll be starting our San Sebastian Roaming Surf Camp Surfari in San Sebastian, Spain and head to Biarritz, France for a bit of surf and partying, then maybe we will stop in Hossegor to rub shoulders with the European surfing elite. We’ll spend some days exploring the Pyrenees, or we’ll be drinking cider and munching on pintxos in San Sebastian or even hopping on one of our famous Boat Parties.

There is no better way to explore these awesome locations than with our Roaming Surf Camp. We don`t think there is anything better than spending our days parked on a beautiful European beach surfing, swimming and sunbathing.

Your meals are prepared, your beers are chilled, your tents are erected for your arrival and your party nights are pre-organised. What a treat! And the new friends you’ll make at our San Sebastian Roaming Surf Camp are some of the best folk around. Open-minded international travellers gather from all over the world for this trip, so there’ll be many different languages to learn and stories to hear over a beer or seventeen. Everyone’s welcome from beginner surfers to the most accomplished dudes and dudettes. For beginners or those looking to improve, our surf instructors are fun and friendly and surf lessons are included.

Where else in the world are your primary concerns trying not to get too much sun and the temperature of the beer? Where each and every day is a cycle of eating, surfing and drinking, and the nights spent partying and chatting and exploring? Where else can you spend your nights in the thumping nightclubs of San Sebastian, but wake up in nature surrounded by verdant hills, rustling leaves and twittering birds?

Just like all good summer surf trips, our Summer Surf Safari has no rules! We’re headed wherever the best surf and party is for you on your trip! But here’s an idea of what you can expect during your time on our rolling surf camp.

Come and find us… we’ll be waiting to meet you with a welcome drink outside the Opera House in San Sebastian at 12:30.

Kick back and enjoy the ride down through the picturesque Basque country and into the Cantabria region of Spain.

Set up camp at our new beachfront home and head out for your first surf with our surf instructors alongside to provide lessons for our beginners or to guide experienced surfers to the best breaks.

Come explore the breathtaking scenery along the coastline with us. Nearby beaches such as Langre and Somo allow you to find great surf conditions hidden amongst the unmatched beauty of Cantabria’s spectacular countryside.

Your bus will take you to enjoy an afternoon surf or simply kick back and relax at some of our favorite hidden Spanish beaches. The perfect setting to enjoy a well deserved beer or sangria while you take in the breathtaking sunset!

If those afternoon drinks get you a little too excited, why not take your exploration further and head out into the bustling nightlife of nearby Santander. Your party-partial Stoke guides will be more than happy to organize and accompany you on your after-dark adventures and provide information on ferries, local hot spots and transport.

We bid farewell to this amazing part of Spain, bound for Basque Country and our new home in Zarautz. Perched atop a huge grassy hill that overlooks the beautiful countryside, your new campsite is undeniably beautiful and most importantly has a great surf beach – all only 20 minutes from the world famous San Sebastian.

Take to the ocean for a surf in the heart of the Basque region before retiring for perhaps one of the most perfect sunset experiences you’ll find on your travels.

Explore the hidden caves on our day trip to Zumaia beach or try your hand at surfing the city break of Zurriola in San Sebastian.

After dark or whenever you’re not surfing, we can organize for you to take full advantage of all that this region has to offer such as San Sebastian’s world renowned Pintxos (traditional Basque tapas), wineries and cider houses, nightlife, boat parties, pub crawls and much more.

On day 5 we say adios to Spain and bonjour to our new beachfront campsite in France. This region is world famous for surfing and hosts the WSL Quicksilver pro annually.

Because it’s near impossible to get sick of stunning sunsets, we’ll take you to have the rather unique experience of watching the sun disappear behind the fallen World War 2 bunkers that you’ll find scattered all along Le Piste Beach.

When you’re all surfed out, we’ll be waiting with a cold beer or sangria while you decide whether you want to discover your new favorite band at a gig in Hossegor, take on the treetop adventure park, or get involved in some extra-curricular drinking in the partying surf town of Moliets.

When the unfortunate time comes that you have to leave us and our rolling camp of fun, we will return you to San Sebastian, or alternatively you can jump off in France and continue your travels from there!

Return to Spain

You want to fly to either Bilbao, or Biarritz. Check out Ryanair, Easyjet and Vueling for cheap deal, there’s always plenty of cheap deals.

If you fly to Bilbao:
You can get a bus directly from the airport to Zarautz, buses leave from the front of the airport at 7am, 11:30am, 3.30pm and 8.30pm
If you land outside of these times there is an hourly bus to San Sebastian city centre and from there you can hop on the local bus or train to Zarautz.

If you fly into Biarritz:
To get to San Sebastian from Biarritz International Airport take a French SNCF train to Hendaye, change to the nearby Euskotren station (located just outside the SNCF station) and take a Euskotren to San Sebastian. Each train ride is between 30-40 minutes, with the total train trip costing less than €10. A coach service also exists between Biarritz airport and the Hendaye train station, via Saint-Jean-De- Luz (change buses there). The coach ride is less than one hour and costs about €4.

You can catch the Spanish national railway from most cities to San Sebastian.

You can arrive to San Sebastian by bus from all over Europe and within Spain. Eurolines deal with international bookings and Vibasa within Spain.

The pickup point in San Sebastian is outside the Kursaal Opera House near the surf beach called Zurriola. Please see map for details.
Surfaris leave at 12.30 on Fridays and Mondays.

Hola folks! Questions? Ask away in the Ask a Question tab and we will answer right here…

So what should we bring?
Beachwear, something to party in, something warm for the night times, a towel, sunscreen and your camera!

Can I come and have a beer if I’m under 18?
Unfortunately our drinking age is 18 for the Summer Surfari, wait a few years brother.

What will the surf be like?
We are no water gods and cannot predict the swell, however we will seek out the best breaks for all different levels in the crew.

Do I need to be a gnarly shredder to come on the trip?
Not at all! You can literally come on the tour if you have never set foot on a surfboard, but you probably want to be able to swim. We have super rad instructors who will choose the appropriate board and wave for you, start to finish.

Why are you not doing the ‘normal’ Wagon Surf Adventures?

Our usual trips are all about getting uncrowded waves and waking up directly at the break. In the summer months, that’s pretty much impossible since floods of people head to sunny surf spots and parking and sleeping at the break just isn’t possible during summer. As such, we decided to operate from campsites and use smaller vehicles to get around. We’ll maintain our search for the best conditions every day, but we have more of a party atmosphere.

€70 | US$ 80 | £60 | AU$ 110 ALL-INCLUSIVE PER NIGHT (MIN. 3-NIGHT STAY)

Got your own board and wetsuit and no need for instruction? Great, you’re price is just €60 per night then.
